Upcoming Events: Get involved

Upcoming Events: Get involved

In the previous edition of Palms Post, we explained what Membership of Palms Australia entails and how it differed from simply being a donor.

Our call for people to renew or begin their membership was the first step in trying to get active members, who participate in setting Palms’ Strategic Direction which influences all that we do.

This year offers great opportunities for participation and we hope you can take part in two more major events this year (non-members are also most welcome).

22 October – Annual General Meeting

This year’s AGM will involve the election of a new board of directors of Palms. Shortly, members will receive our Annual Report along with profiles of the candidates for the board.

By voting in the elections, in person or by proxy, members can decide which candidates are best equipped to direct Palms Australia and ensure we continue working towards our vision.

We have a great list of candidates this year and the election is a simple way our members can feedback to Palms the directions they would like us to take.

22 October – Golden Jubilee Dinner

At the same time as our AGM, we will celebrate our Golden Jubilee with a dinner at the Eastwood-Ryde Leagues Club. It promises to be a great opportunity to reflect on 50 years of Palms’ volunteers and for returned volunteers to catch up with people they met at Orientation Courses or in the field.

Email Li Li at [email protected] or call (02) 9518 9551 for tickets.

$500 for a table of ten, or $50 per person.

26 – 27 November – Organisational Review

In November, we will be calling upon members and our newly elected board to help with Palms’ Organisational Review. This is a hands on opportunity to help review Palms’ recent efforts and influence our Strategic Direction over the next three years and beyond.

The contributions of members at past Reviews have been vital in shaping Palms Australia, providing feedback to staff, guiding, resourcing and revitalising the organisation. We sincerely hope you can share your expertise and opinions on this weekend.

The Organisational Review will be held at Palms’ office in Glebe. Please mark it in your calendar and register your intent to attend with Marie Gilbert at  [email protected] or (02) 9518 9551.
