Discover Palms: Brisbane

August 11 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm AEST

Discover Palms Australia

Palms Australia invites Australians to reach beyond barriers to achieve a world free from poverty. Discover how we work towards this ambitious goal by engaging with our development professionals and returned volunteers. Our intimate discussion events offer an opportunity to explore the issues at the heart of international development in our region and beyond and guests will discuss a new topic at each event across the country.

Your host

Join returned volunteer Guida Cabrita in Brisbane this August. Guida worked with a primary school in Bedois, Timor Leste, for two years as a teacher trainer and administration mentor. Guida will share her experience of working in Timor Leste and of building relationships with local teachers. As Guida is one of several volunteers who have supported the staff at Bedois over the past 10 years, this event is an incredible opportunity to discuss sustainable development in education and the importance of prioritizing long-term engagements over short-term projects.

Your topic

Palms will be confirming the discussion topic in July. Check back here for more details.

The details

We look forward to meeting you at the Community Meeting Room in Brisbane Square Library, at 1pm on Sunday, August 11. All guests are welcome and there is no need to RSVP. However, you can register your attendance by contacting robert@palms.org.au.
