Photo Essay: International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Timor Leste

with Ann-Marie O’Brien

Since August 2019, Ann-Marie has been providing support to the programs of Klibur Domin, a low-care health and disability facility in Tibar, Timor Leste. This has included mentoring local administrative staff involved in inpatient care and rehabilitation, mental health programs, human resources and general office support.

Below are some photo’s she sent through from Dili, as earlier this week they celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Ann-Marie and a group of patients and carers from Klibur Domin.

Big crowd in Dili ready for the celebrations. Events like this improve visibility of people
with a disability in Timor, contributing to reduced stigma and isolation.

One of the drama presentations. The banner calls for inclusivity and equality for people
with a disability.
