Position: Surgeon, Paediatrician or Obstetrician/Gynocologist

Country: Papua New Guinea

Length of placement: 1 year +

Start Date: July 2011

A number of specialist doctors have been requested to work with a major hospital in PNG islands.

The hospital currently has numerous local non-specialist doctors and local nurses but has an urgent need for specialists to complement the general medical care provided.  The role would involve some leadership, including mentoring and training nurses and student interns.

We provide pre-departure preparation, flights, accommodation, a basic living allowance, personal and professional support during placement and re-entry assistance on return home. Applicants will need to attend an orientation course prior to placement.

As long as the problems of the poor are not radically resolved by rejecting the absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation and by attacking the structural causes of inequality, no solution will be found for the world’s problems or, for that matter, to any problems. Inequality is the root of social ills. - Pope Francis (Joy of the Gospel 202)
